Dave Davis is an amazing jazz musician. He is famous for playing the trombone with the Sun Ra Arkestra. He joined this legendary band in 1997. People sometimes call him the "party-starting trombonist" because of his energetic playing! He is one of the younger members of the Arkestra.

Dave Davis first learned about the local jazz scene by playing with the Frank Jackson Orchestra. There, he met Tyrone Hill, who was already a member of the Sun Ra Arkestra. Dave took lessons from Tyrone for several years. This helped him prepare to join the famous Arkestra.

He started in the Arkestra as the second trombonist. He often played improvised music with Tyrone Hill, who was the lead trombonist. When Tyrone Hill passed away in 2007, Dave Davis took over as the main trombone player. He has continued to bring his unique energy to the band.

About Dave Davis's Life

Dave Davis was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He served in the Marines from 1987 to 1991. After that, he moved to Philadelphia in 1991. He went to Temple University there to continue his education.
