David Douglas is an American professional MMA fighter and boxer. He has competed in major fighting organizations like Strikeforce, EliteXC, and ShoXC. He started his professional career in 2004.

Growing Up in Antioch

David Douglas was born and grew up in Antioch, California. He lived in a tough neighborhood with his twin brother, Damion. Their parents worked hard in steel mills. The Douglas brothers often got into fights when they were young. They would stand up to bigger and older bullies at school.

Learning Martial Arts Early

Both David and Damion started learning martial arts at a young age. Their father, Danny, taught them at home. He was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. This early training helped them become strong fighters.

David Douglas's MMA Journey

David Douglas began his professional mixed martial arts career in 2004. He quickly showed his talent in the ring.

Fighting in Strikeforce

In August 2009, Douglas made his debut for Strikeforce. This was a major fighting organization. He fought on the preliminary card of Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg. He lost his first fight there by submission.

Life Outside the Ring

David Douglas has a unique nickname, "Tarzan." His coach, Cesar Gracie, gave him this name. It was because of David's long hair and tall, thin build. David's twin brother, Damion Douglas, is also a mixed martial artist. Damion also competed for Strikeforce. David has two children, and Damion has three.
