David Douglas is an American athlete who competes in both mixed martial arts (MMA) and boxing. He started his professional MMA career in 2004. He has fought in major organizations like Strikeforce, EliteXC, and ShoXC.

Early Life and Training
David Douglas grew up in Antioch, California, with his twin brother, Damion. Their parents worked in steel mills. The brothers often got into fights when they were young. They would stand up to bullies who were bigger and older than them.
From a young age, David and Damion learned martial arts at home. Their father, Danny, was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He taught them how to fight and defend themselves.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Starting Out in MMA
David Douglas began his professional MMA journey in 2004. He had a strong start, winning three of his first four fights. Because of his good performance, he was signed by the EliteXC organization in 2008.
Fighting in Strikeforce
In August 2009, David made his first appearance in Strikeforce. This was a big event called Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg. He fought against Justin Wilcox and lost by submission.
David returned to Strikeforce in 2010. He competed in their "Strikeforce Challengers" series. He won two fights in a row. In October 2010, he defeated Dominic Clark by TKO. Then, in February 2011, he beat Nick Gonzalez by submission.
His next fight was against Caros Fodor in April 2011. David lost this fight in the third round by TKO.
Professional Boxing Career
David Douglas also tried his hand at professional boxing. His first boxing match was in 2016 against Jasper McCargo. He lost this fight by knockout in the third round.
He returned to the boxing ring in 2019. He fought Chris Washington, who had won all three of his previous fights. David was defeated by knockout in the first round.
Personal Life and Nickname
David Douglas is known by the nickname "Tarzan." He got this name from his coach, Cesar Gracie. Cesar gave him the nickname because of David's long hair and tall, thin build.
David's twin brother, Damion Douglas, is also a mixed martial artist. Damion also competed for Strikeforce. David has two children, and Damion has three children.
