David Hickey's Early Life and Sports
David Hickey loved sports from a young age. His dad, Patrick, played rugby too. David went to University College Dublin (UCD) to study medicine. Even though he was studying to be a doctor, he was also a talented football player.
Playing for Dublin
David started playing for the Dublin senior team when he was just 17 years old. He played in six All-Ireland Senior Football Championship finals in a row during the 1970s. This was a huge achievement!
- He won the All-Ireland Championship three times: in 1974, 1976, and 1977.
- He also won two special awards called All-Stars in 1974 and 1976.
- David helped Dublin win the National Football League twice, in 1976 and 1978.
Rugby in France
After his football career with Dublin, David Hickey moved to France. He joined a rugby club called Stade Rochelais. He played rugby there for two years.
