David Kennedy, 1st Earl of Cassilis (born after 1463 – died 9 September 1513) was an important Scottish nobleman. He was the son of John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy. David was born around 1463 in Maybole, a town in Ayrshire, Scotland.
He became a trusted advisor to King James IV of Scotland. In 1502, the King made him the first Earl of Cassilis. This was a very high title. Sadly, David Kennedy was killed in a big battle called the Battle of Flodden on September 9, 1513.

His Children
David and Agnes had a son named Gilbert. Gilbert was born on September 29, 1494. He later became the 2nd Earl of Cassilis after his father. Gilbert married Isabella Campbell. She was the daughter of Archibald Campbell, 2nd Earl of Argyll.
Gilbert and Isabella had a daughter named Katherine. Katherine married William Hamilton. He was from Sorn and Sanquhar.
Later Marriage
After Agnes passed away, David Kennedy married Margaret Boyd. Margaret was the daughter of Sir Thomas Boyd, Earl of Arran. Her mother, Mary Stewart, was a daughter of King James II of Scotland. David and Margaret did not have any children together.
