When David was 19, he traveled to France. There, he met the famous Troisgros brothers. This meeting sparked his interest in cooking. He became the first American to work as a cook at Troisgros. This was a very famous restaurant in Roanne, France, with three Michelin stars. Even though he worked there, David did not have formal cooking training yet. While studying for a law degree, he took night classes. These classes were part of a culinary program in Brooklyn.
Creating David's Cookies
In 1979, David Liederman opened his first David's Cookies store. He started it with an investment of $30,000. The store was located in Manhattan on Second Avenue. It was near 54th Street.
