David Maurice Lighty Jr. (born May 27, 1988) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for LDLC ASVEL in France. This team competes in the LNB Pro A league and the EuroLeague. Before becoming a pro, David played college basketball at Ohio State University. He was known for playing in many games during his college career.

David Lighty's High School Days
David Lighty played basketball at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School. In 2005, a newspaper called The Plain Dealer named him the player of the year. During his final year, he scored about 22 points per game. He also helped his high school team reach the state championship game.
David Lighty's College Basketball Journey
David Lighty started playing for Ohio State in college. In his first year, he played about 16 minutes per game. He scored 3.7 points and grabbed 2.3 rebounds on average. During the NCAA Tournament, he averaged 7.0 points. He even made a game-tying three-pointer in a big game against Tennessee.
For his second year, David became a starter for the Buckeyes. However, he got injured in December 2008 and missed the rest of that season. He was given a "medical red-shirt," which meant he could play an extra year later. He returned for his third year in 2009–10. In that season, he averaged 12.6 points, 3.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. In his final year, he was recognized as one of the best players in the country.
David Lighty's Professional Basketball Career
After college, David Lighty was not chosen in the 2011 NBA draft. But he quickly signed a two-year deal with a team in Italy called Bennet Cantù in July 2011. Later that year, he moved to another Italian team, Guerino Vanoli Basket.
In August 2012, David signed with JSF Nanterre in France. He played there for the 2012–13 season. He briefly signed with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA in 2013 but was later released. He then returned to JSF Nanterre for the 2013–14 season.
On June 3, 2014, David Lighty joined ASVEL Basket in France. He signed a two-year contract with them. In July 2016, he played for the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2016 NBA Summer League.
After that, he signed with an Italian club called Aquila Basket Trento in July 2016. On December 18, 2016, David had his best scoring game, with 34 points. In February 2017, he left Trento and joined Dinamo Sassari for the rest of that season.
On June 14, 2017, David Lighty signed a new two-year contract with his former club, ASVEL Basket. He has been with ASVEL ever since, extending his contract until 2024.
Playing in The Basketball Tournament
David Lighty also played in The Basketball Tournament 2020. He joined a team called Carmen's Crew, which was made up mostly of players who went to Ohio State. He scored 21 points in their first game, but his team lost.
