David Hewitt McRobbie (born in 1934) is an Australian writer. He creates exciting stories for television, radio, and especially for children's books.

About David McRobbie
David McRobbie was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1934. When he was 24, in 1958, he moved to Australia. He had many interesting jobs before becoming a full-time writer.
In the 1960s, he worked as a teacher in Papua New Guinea. He was also a ship's engineer, a college lecturer, and a producer for TV and radio shows. His first book, Talking Tree and Other Stories, came out in 1976. It was a collection of short stories.
David McRobbie is well-known for his Wayne book series. He started writing these books in 1991. Later, in 1996, the series was made into a TV show called The Wayne Manifesto.
He also created other TV shows like Eugenie Sandler P.I. in 2000. His novel Tyro was nominated for a big award. This was the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award for older readers in 2000.
In 2002, his novel Mum, Me, and the 19th C was a finalist for the Aurealis Award for best young-adult novel. This award celebrates the best science fiction and fantasy books.
