David Ian Roberts (born 8 May 1970) is a British artist who draws amazing pictures for children's books. He has created many illustrations, some in black and white and others in full colour.

His black and white drawings often appear in books for older readers. He has worked with famous authors like Philip Ardagh on the Eddie Dickens and Unlikely Exploits series. He also illustrated books for G.P. Taylor (the Mariah Mundi series) and Chris Priestley (the Tales of Terror series). One book he illustrated, Mouse Noses on Toast by Daren King, even won the Nestle Smarties Book Prize in 2006! After that, he worked with Daren King on other fun books like Peter the Penguin Pioneer and The Frightfully Friendly Ghosties series.

Roberts also creates colourful picture books for younger children. Some of his most well-known picture books are with the famous author Julia Donaldson, who was once the Children's Laureate. Together, they made books like Tyrannosaurus Drip, The Troll, and Jack and the Flum Flum Tree.
