Davon Malcolm Reed (born June 11, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Mexico City Capitanes in the NBA G League. Davon is also of Puerto Rican descent.
He played college basketball for the Miami Hurricanes. After college, the Phoenix Suns picked him in the 2017 NBA draft.

High School Hoops Success
Davon grew up in Ewing Township, New Jersey. He went to Princeton Day School from 2009 to 2013. During his four years there, Davon scored an amazing 2,102 points. This was the most points ever scored in his school's history!
College Career at Miami
From 2013 to 2017, Davon played college basketball at the University of Miami. He was known as a great shooter. He could also defend against players in four different positions.
In his final year, he averaged 14.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also earned special awards. These included being named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Third Team. He also made the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Team.
Davon Reed's Professional Basketball Career
Starting with the Phoenix Suns (2017–2018)
The Phoenix Suns chose Davon Reed as the 32nd pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He signed a four-year contract with the Suns in July 2017.
Davon played well in the 2017 NBA Summer League. He averaged 14.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. However, he had to have surgery on his left knee. This meant he missed several months of playing.
He later played some games for the Northern Arizona Suns. This team is part of the NBA G League. He made his official NBA debut with the Phoenix Suns on January 14, 2018. His best game with Phoenix was on March 10. He scored a season-high 16 points and made all four of his three-point shots.
In July 2018, Davon played for the Phoenix Suns again in the Summer League. He played very well, averaging 13.4 points per game. Even though his contract was guaranteed, the Suns decided to let him go in October 2018.
Playing for the Indiana Pacers (2018–2019)
Soon after leaving the Suns, Davon signed a special contract with the Indiana Pacers. This contract allowed him to play for both the Pacers and their G League team, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Time with the Sioux Falls Skyforce (2019–2020)
In September 2019, Davon joined the Miami Heat. After training camp, he moved to their G League team, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
He had a great game on February 5, 2020. He scored 29 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and had eight assists. Davon became the only player in the G League that season to have at least 500 points, 250 rebounds, and 150 assists.
Playing Overseas with Taoyuan Pilots (2020–2021)
In November 2020, Davon went to play for the Taoyuan Pilots in Taiwan. This team is part of the P. League+. He played there until April 2021 when he returned to the U.S. for medical treatment.
Back to the NBA with Denver Nuggets (2021–2023)
Davon joined the Denver Nuggets for the 2021 NBA Summer League. He signed with them in September but was later waived. He then joined the Grand Rapids Gold, a G League team. He played very well there.
Because of his strong play, Davon signed a 10-day contract with the Nuggets in December 2021. He signed two more 10-day contracts. Then, in January 2022, he signed a two-way contract with the Nuggets. This meant he could play for both the Nuggets and the Grand Rapids Gold. He re-signed with the Nuggets for a multiyear deal in July 2022.
Short Stint with Los Angeles Lakers (2023)
In February 2023, Davon was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. This was part of a big trade involving four teams. He played for the Lakers for a short time before being waived in April 2023.
Prometey and Memphis Hustle (2023–2024)
After leaving the Lakers, Davon signed with Prometey in July 2023. This team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League.
In December 2023, he returned to the NBA G League. He joined the Memphis Hustle.
Joining Mexico City Capitanes (2024–Present)
On September 4, 2024, Davon Reed was traded to the Mexico City Capitanes. He continues his professional basketball career with this team.
