Dean Reisner (born November 3, 1918 – died August 18, 2002) was an American writer for movies and TV shows. He started acting as a child, even appearing in a film with Charlie Chaplin. Later, he became a well-known screenwriter, which means he wrote scripts for films and television. He was especially famous for writing action movies starring Clint Eastwood.

Early Life and Acting Career
Dean Reisner was born in New Rochelle, New York. His father, Charles Reisner, was a director for silent films. Dean started acting in movies when he was only four years old. He was known as Dinky Dean during this time.
His most famous role as a child actor was in Charlie Chaplin's 1923 film, The Pilgrim. However, his acting career ended young. His mother wanted him to have a normal childhood.
Becoming a Screenwriter
As an adult, Dean Reisner began working behind the scenes in movies. His first job as a writer was in 1939. He helped write the film Code of the Secret Service, which starred Ronald Reagan.
In 1948, Reisner was a co-writer for a very special film called Bill and Coo. This movie was unique because its entire cast was made up of real birds. These birds were dressed in tiny costumes and acted on a miniature film set. The film received a special award from the Academy Awards.
Working in Television
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Reisner mainly wrote for television. He wrote episodes for popular TV shows like Rawhide. He also wrote for the science fiction series The Outer Limits. Sometimes, he still wrote for feature films, such as The Helen Morgan Story.
Collaborations with Clint Eastwood
In 1968, Dean Reisner got a big opportunity. He started working on the action film Coogan's Bluff, which starred Clint Eastwood. This led to him writing several other movies for Eastwood in the 1970s.
In 1971, Reisner helped write two Eastwood films: Play Misty for Me and the original Dirty Harry. He also helped rewrite parts of High Plains Drifter in 1973, though he was not officially credited for it. In 1976, he was one of the writers for The Enforcer. This was the third movie in the Dirty Harry series.
That same year, he wrote the script for a very popular TV miniseries called Rich Man, Poor Man. It starred actors Peter Strauss and Nick Nolte.
Later Career
Dean Reisner continued writing into the 1980s. He contributed to several films during this time. For many of these, his work went uncredited, meaning his name was not shown in the movie's credits. Some of these films include Das Boot, Blue Thunder, and Starman. He is officially credited as the writer for the 1987 film Fatal Beauty.
Personal Life
In 1949, Dean Reisner married actress Maila Nurmi. She was famous for playing the horror host character Vampira. They later divorced in the 1950s. Dean Reisner passed away in 2002 in Encino, California, at the age of 83.
