Debbie Jenkinson facts for kids

Debbie Jenkinson is a super talented artist from Dublin, Ireland. She loves to draw comics and create amazing stories. She is a big part of the "small-press comic scene." This means she makes comics that are often published by independent artists, not huge companies.

She created a long comic story called Remorse. It is about a young person in Dublin who feels stuck in a call center job. Remorse was even chosen as one of the best comics of 2015 by a website called Comicosity!

Her Journey as an Artist

Debbie studied animation in the 1990s at Ballyfermot. There, she read a famous comic called Maus by Art Spiegelman. It really inspired her.

After working in an animation studio in the United States, she came back to Ireland. She then earned her Master of Arts degree at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD).

Helping Other Artists

Debbie is a co-founder of The Comics Lab. This is a group that meets every three months for artists in Ireland. She is also a member of Stray Lines, which is another group of artists.

She also helped start the first Graphic Short Prize. This prize is run through The Irish Times newspaper. She worked on it with her fellow artist Sarah Bowie.
