Dr. D. Ann Honeycutt

Dr. Deborah Ann Travis "D. Ann" Honeycutt (born August 8, 1947) is an American politician and a medical doctor. She was a candidate for the Republican Party in Georgia's 13th congressional district in 2006 and 2008. She also attended the Republican National Convention in 2008. In 2004, Dr. Honeycutt was the President of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. The next year, in 2005, she was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Georgian Academy.

Dr. Honeycutt is a family medicine doctor. This means she helps people of all ages with their general health needs. She studied at the University of Illinois School of Medicine and Family Practice Residency Program.

Her Medical Career

Dr. Honeycutt has worked in many important medical roles. She was the Medical Director at Spelman College Health Services. She also served as Medical Director at the Good Shepherd Clinic in Morrow, which is a free clinic.

She practiced medicine at Georgia Baptist Family Doctor in Palmetto, Georgia. She also had her own private practice called Five Points Family Practice in Fairburn, Georgia.

Dr. Honeycutt was appointed for five years to the American Academy of Family Physicians Commission on Education. She currently represents Georgia as a State Delegate to the American Academy.

Her husband is Dr. Andrew Honeycutt. He is a professor of business at Shorter University.

2006 and 2008 Elections

In 2006, Dr. Honeycutt was the Republican candidate for Georgia's 13th Congressional District. She did not win the election that year.

She ran again in 2008 for the same district. She was again defeated by the person who already held the position, David Scott. Even though she raised more money for her campaign than her opponent, she lost the election.

2010 Election

In 2010, many candidates wanted to be the Republican nominee for the 13th Congressional District. Dr. Honeycutt came in second place in the first round of voting. She then went to a special second election, called a runoff election, but she did not win. The winner of that runoff election then lost to the same person, David Scott.
