The Story of December to Dismember
ECW's First Event (1995)
The first December to Dismember event happened on December 9, 1995. It was put on by Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). This event took place at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a "supercard," which means it had many important wrestling matches. This was the only December to Dismember event ECW ever held. The company later closed down in 2001 because of money problems.
WWE Brings it Back (2006)
In 2003, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) bought ECW's old stuff. In May 2006, WWE started a new part of their company called ECW. This new ECW had wrestlers from the old company and new wrestlers too. WWE has different "brands" like Raw and SmackDown!. These brands are like teams where wrestlers perform.
WWE then decided to bring back December to Dismember. It became a pay-per-view (PPV) event for their new ECW brand. This event was held on December 3, 2006. It took place at the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia. This was the only ECW brand pay-per-view that WWE ever produced.
Why the Event Stopped
After April 2007, WWE decided to stop having PPV events just for one brand. This change happened after WrestleMania 23. Because of this, WWE started having fewer PPV events each year. An event for December to Dismember had been planned for 2007, but it was canceled.
