Denham is a small, quiet place in Pulaski County, Indiana. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Rich Grove Township.
The History of Denham
How Denham Began
Denham started a long time ago, in the 1860s. This was when the railroad tracks were built through the area. The community was first called Gundrum.
Why the Name Changed
Later, in the 1880s, the name was changed to Denham. This new name honored an important official from the railroad company.
The Local Post Office
A post office was first opened in 1870, using the name Gundrum. In 1888, its name also changed to Denham. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1996.
