Acting Career
Getting Started on TV
In 2006, Denise's television career took off. She joined the cast of a successful musical TV show for teens called Amango. She played the character "Maria Fernanda Mc Gellar," who was better known as "Feña." The show was a big hit.
Denise was also part of the pop group created for the show, also called Amango. The group released three popular albums with songs from the series. After the first season, the cast went on a national tour across Chile. A documentary called Amango: The Tour showed their journey.
A Star in Her Own Show
Because her character "Feña" was so popular, she got her own spin-off show called El Blog de la Feña. A spin-off is a new show that continues the story of a character from another series. Viewers could even vote for what would happen next in the story using text messages. The show was very successful.
In 2009, Denise starred in Corazón Rebelde, which was the Chilean version of a famous Argentine show called Rebelde Way. She was also part of the show's band, CRZ: Corazón Rebelde.
Movies and Theatre
After her success on TV, Denise decided to study acting, dance, and voice in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She made her first movie appearance in 2011 in a comedy-drama called El Limpiapiscinas.
In 2012, she starred in her first stage musical, Que Cante La Vida. A few years later, in 2016, she played Princess Jazz in a Chilean musical version of Disney's Aladdin. She has also been a judge on Got Talent Chile and appeared in other TV shows and movies.
Music Career
From TV Bands to Solo Artist
Denise was interested in music from a young age. Her first musical success came from the soundtracks for the TV show Amango. The band released two albums and a Christmas album.
After her TV shows Amango and Corazón Rebelde ended, Denise began to focus on her own music. She wanted to write her own songs and create her own sound.
First Solo Album: Fiesta
In 2011, Denise released her first solo single, "I Wanna Give My Heart." She wrote the lyrics herself. She continued to release more singles, including "Just Better Alone" and "Dance."
Her first solo album, Fiesta, came out in 2013. She used the stage name "D-Niss" for this album. It included 11 songs in a mix of English and Spanish, which is sometimes called "Spanglish." The album had a fun mix of pop, urban, and R&B music. To promote one of her songs, "Revolution," she surprised people by performing with 30 dancers at a metro station in Santiago.
Second Album: Cambio de Piel
Denise's second album, Cambio de Piel, was released in 2017. The title means "Change of Skin" in English. The album's main single had the same name. Another important song from this album was "Isidora," which she wrote in memory of a friend.
In 2020, Denise performed at the famous Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile. Her performance was so well-received that she won two awards, the Silver and Golden Seagull.
Since then, she has released more albums, including Todas Seremos Reinas (2021) and Supernova (2023). She often works with other artists, like Lola Índigo and Danna Paola on the hit song "Santería".
