Denmark is a small, quiet place in Indiana, USA. It's not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. Denmark is located in Owen County, within Marion Township.
You can find Denmark about 15 miles west of Spencer. Spencer is the main town, or county seat, of Owen County. Denmark sits about 722 feet (220 meters) above sea level. It is near where County Road 1400 West (also called Kelly Road) meets County Road 150 South (also called Denmark Road).
History of Denmark
Denmark was never officially planned out with a map of streets and lots. This is called being platted. The people who lived there likely named the community after the country of Denmark in Northern Europe.
A post office opened in Denmark in 1874. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, the post office closed down in 1906.
