History of Denmark
Denmark was one of the first places where people settled permanently in Lincoln County. It was founded around 1869 by Danish families who were Lutherans (a type of Christian faith).
They began building a stone church in 1876. This church was made from a special type of stone called "post rock" limestone, which is very common in that area. The church was finished in 1880. Later, in 1901, a bell tower and a new entrance were added.
Today, Denmark is located about 3 miles north of K-18, a state highway. The community still has a building for community events, a railroad, and a large grain elevator for storing crops.
