Dennis was well-known for playing with Charlton Athletic, where he played over 170 games. He also played for other professional teams like Portsmouth, Brentford, and Aldershot. Before becoming a professional, he was a great goalscorer for non-league teams such as Slough Town and Wycombe Wanderers. He even played for the England amateur team.

Dennis Edwards passed away on 13 September 2019 in Denmead, Portsmouth, when he was 82 years old.
