Denver Heights COGIC, also known as The Mother Church, is a Pentecostal church in San Antonio, Texas. It is very important in history because it was one of the first churches in the United States to start after a big event called the Azusa Street Revival. This revival happened in Los Angeles, California, on April 14, 1906. Many historians believe this event helped spread a new kind of Christian faith called Pentecostalism in the 20th century. Denver Heights is seen as the starting point for modern Pentecostalism in San Antonio and South Texas.

Today, the church is part of the Texas Southwest Jurisdiction of the Churches of God in Christ. Denver Heights COGIC works with local groups like the Greater Alamo District. It also takes part in activities at state, national, and international levels.

History of The Mother Church

Early Days and Pastor Foard

Pastor F. C. V. Foard came to San Antonio in the fall of 1913. He was 27 years old and had traveled from Hearne, Texas. He began sharing Christian teachings on street corners, in tents, and wherever he could find a space.

Before the current church building was finished, services were held in other places. In the summer of 1917, Elder Foard and about twenty members moved their services. They went to 103 Roberts Street on the Westside of San Antonio. This location is now known as West End Church of God in Christ.

In 1920, Elder Foard and many members returned to the Denver Heights area. They held services in a rented building on Iowa and Mesquite streets. The church was called "The First Church" at that time. They stayed there until their current building was ready.
