After high school, Deon played college football. He played for the USC Trojans from 1990 to 1993. He was a "letterman," meaning he earned a varsity letter for his sport.

In 1990, his first year, Deon ran with the ball 19 times. He gained 108 yards and scored one touchdown. A touchdown is when a player carries the ball into the opponent's end zone.
