Deondre Burns (born January 16, 1997) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays as a point guard for ESSM Le Portel in France's top basketball league, the LNB Pro A. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Little Rock Trojans and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.

Early Life and Hometown
Deondre grew up in Yazoo City, Mississippi. His parents are Deon Burns and Belinda Smith. He also has a sister named DeCarnia Smith.
High School Hoops
Deondre played basketball at Newman Smith High School. In February 2015, he scored an amazing 30 points in one game! This big win helped his team qualify for the playoffs.
In his senior year, Deondre was one of the top scorers in his area. He averaged almost 24 points per game. He also grabbed about 4 rebounds and made 2 assists per game. After high school, he decided to play college basketball at Little Rock.
College Career Highlights
Deondre played college basketball for two different teams. First, he played for the Little Rock Trojans.
Playing for Little Rock
As a sophomore at Little Rock, Deondre averaged 7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. He was very good at shooting, making 45% of his shots. He also made 81% of his free throws.
He missed the 2017–18 season because of a knee injury. When he returned, his coach liked to bring him off the bench. This meant Deondre would come into the game as a substitute. His coach said he liked this because Deondre could score points quickly. In that season, he averaged 10 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Moving to Oral Roberts
After his time at Little Rock, Deondre decided to transfer to Oral Roberts. On January 13, 2020, he was named the Summit League player of the week. This was after he scored 22 points in one game and 19 points in another.
On February 6, he scored a career-high 31 points in a game! As a senior at Oral Roberts, Deondre averaged 15.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. He was one of the best players in the league for assists and free throw shooting. He was also named to the Second Team All-Summit League.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Deondre Burns started his professional basketball career. He has played for several teams around the world.
Starting in Switzerland
On August 29, 2020, Deondre signed his first professional contract. He joined Starwings Basel in the Swiss Basketball League. He had a great season there, averaging 20 points per game. This made him the third-highest scorer in the league! He also averaged 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 4.2 assists per game. He was very good at free throws, making 82% of them.
Playing in Cyprus
After Switzerland, Deondre played for the Metroplex Lightning. Then, on September 8, 2021, he signed with Keravnos in the Cypriot League.
In the 2021-22 season with Keravnos, he averaged 20.8 points per game. He also had 5.4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He was especially good at shooting three-pointers, making 47.2% of them! In the 2022-23 season, he averaged 14.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
Recent Teams
On July 19, 2023, Deondre signed with BG Göttingen in Germany's Basketball Bundesliga. He played with them for a few months.
Later that year, on December 26, 2023, he signed with Hapoel Holon in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
Most recently, on November 9, 2024, he signed with ESSM Le Portel in France. This is where he plays now!
