Derek Miller (born in 1974) is an Aboriginal Canadian singer-songwriter. He is known for his blues music. Derek has won two Juno Awards, which are major music awards in Canada. He also performed at the exciting Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. He shared the stage with singers Eva Avila and Nikki Yanofsky.

Derek Miller's Musical Journey
Early Life and First Steps
Derek Miller was born in the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation community. This is in Ontario, Canada. He became very interested in music when he was a teenager. By the late 1990s, he was touring with the famous musician Buffy Sainte-Marie. This was a great start to his career!
Award-Winning Albums
In 2002, Derek released his first album. It was called Music is the Medicine. This album came out on Arbor Records, a music label from Winnipeg. The album was a big success. In 2003, he won a Juno Award for it. The award was in the category of Aboriginal Recording of the Year. He won for his song "Lovesick Blues."
His second album, The Dirty Looks, came out in 2006. This album also won awards. In 2007, Derek received a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award. It was for Best Rock Album. Then, in 2008, The Dirty Looks helped him win another Juno Award. This was also in the Aboriginal Recording of the Year category.
Olympic Performance and More Music
Derek Miller had a special performance in 2010. He played at the Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. He performed alongside Eva Avila and Nikki Yanofsky. This was a huge moment for him!
Later in 2010, he released his third album. It was titled Derek Miller with Double Trouble. Derek has also appeared in some movies and TV shows. These include Moccasin Flats: Redemption and Hard Rock Medical. In 2015, he put together an album called "Rumble: A Tribute to Native Music Icons."
