Early Life and High School
Derrick Brew was born in Houston, Texas. He grew up there and attended Klein Forest High School. During his time in high school, he was coached by Jack Sands. This is where he began to develop his skills as a runner.
Olympic and World Championship Success
Derrick Brew had a very successful career in athletics. His biggest achievement was at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Athens 2004 Olympic Games
At the 2004 Athens Olympics, Derrick Brew won two medals.
- He earned a gold medal as part of the United States 4 × 400 meter relay team. This is a team race where four runners each run 400 meters.
- He also won a bronze medal in the individual 400-meter race. This was a special moment for the U.S. team. American runners took all three medals in that race.
