Derrick Osamuyi Obasohan (born April 18, 1981) is a Nigerian-American who used to play professional basketball. He played college basketball for the University of Texas at Arlington before becoming a pro.

Derrick Obasohan's College Basketball Journey
Derrick Obasohan started his basketball journey playing for Alief Elsik High School in Houston, Texas. After high school, he went on to play college basketball for the Texas–Arlington Mavericks at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was known as one of the top players in the Southland Conference during his time there.
Derrick Obasohan's Professional Basketball Career
After college, Derrick Obasohan played for many different professional basketball teams around the world.
Playing in Turkey and Spain
In May 2010, Obasohan joined Trabzonspor, a team in Turkey, for the 2010–11 season. He played 26 games, scoring about 12 points and getting almost 4 rebounds in each game. The next year, in September 2011, he moved to Spain and signed with Joventut. He played 34 games for them, averaging about 9 points per game.
Venturing to South America and Back to Europe
In May 2012, Derrick played a few games for the Cocodrilos de Caracas in Venezuela. Later that year, he started the 2012–13 season in Argentina with Boca Juniors. However, he soon moved back to France in November 2012 to play for Cholet Basket for the rest of the season.
Success with AS Monaco and Provence Basket
In August 2013, Obasohan joined AS Monaco Basket in France. He played with them for two seasons and helped the team move up from the third division (French NM1) to the second division (LNB Pro B) and then to the top league (LNB Pro A). This was a big achievement for the team! In October 2015, he signed with Provence Basket, another team in the LNB Pro B league, where he played until 2017.
Derrick Obasohan's National Team Appearances
Derrick Obasohan also proudly represented his home country, Nigeria, in international competitions.
