Derrin Horton was born in Washington, D.C.. He grew up in Queens, New York. He finished high school at Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York in 1986.

After high school, Derrin went to Syracuse University. He studied at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and graduated in 1991. While in college, he worked at the student radio station WAER and the TV station Citrus TV. He would call the games for the Syracuse Orange sports teams.

Starting His Career in Sports

Derrin Horton became a sportscaster for KCAL-TV in Los Angeles in 1998. He reported on many different sports events for the station.

Working at NFL Network

In 2004, Derrin joined the NFL Network. He works there as an anchor, reporter, and host. He conducts in-depth interviews with players and coaches. He also gives updates after games and reports from the sidelines. Derrin is also the host and narrator for the NFL Top 10 documentary series on the network.
