Who Helps Run the Center?
The center is a team effort! Many different groups work together to make it special. These partners include the National Park Service and the Barstow Unified School District. Barstow Community College and the Mojave River Valley Museum also help. The City of Barstow and a non-profit group called Discovery Trails are also involved. Discovery Trails is dedicated to the Mojave Desert.
What Can You See There?
One of the most amazing things you can see at the Desert Discovery Center is the Old Woman meteorite. This giant space rock is the second largest meteorite ever found in the United States! Imagine a piece of outer space right here on Earth. It's a truly incredible sight. The center used to be called the California Desert Information Center.
