Deshaun Leroy Thomas (born August 29, 1991) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a small forward and power forward. Thomas played college basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was picked 58th overall in the 2013 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He last played for LDLC ASVEL in France.

Early Life and Basketball Start
Deshaun Thomas showed his basketball talent from a young age. When he was in 5th grade in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was already taller than many of his teachers. In middle school, he led his team at Northwood Middle School to win two Fort Wayne championships in a row.
High School Basketball Career
Thomas went to Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne. He was known as one of the best young basketball players in the country. He helped the Bishop Luers Knights win two Class 2A Indiana state championships in a row as a sophomore and junior. In the 2009 state championship game, he scored 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. These were the second-best numbers ever in a Class 2A state championship game.
Before Thomas joined, his high school team had never won the Summit Athletic Conference Holiday Basketball Tournament. But with Deshaun, they won it three times in a row from 2007 to 2009.
Thomas was an amazing scorer throughout his high school years. He finished his high school career as the 3rd highest scorer among all Indiana high school boys' basketball players. He was also 4th best when including both boys and girls.
When he was a freshman, Thomas decided he would play college basketball for the Ohio State University. In his freshman year, he averaged almost 29 points per game.
As a senior in 2010, Thomas and his team played against Columbus Northland High School. This was the top-ranked high school team in the nation. Even though Luers lost, Thomas scored 36 points, which was the most in the game.
In February 2010, Thomas was chosen to play in the 2010 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. This is a special game for the best high school players in the country. He also played in the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic in New York City.
On March 13, 2010, Thomas finished his high school career with 3,018 points. He was only the third player in Indiana boys' basketball history to score over 3,000 points.
In March 2010, Thomas was named to the Associated Press Indiana All-Century team. This team was picked to celebrate 100 years of the Indiana high school basketball tournament. He was also a first-team member of the 2010 Parade All-America Team.
The biggest award of his high school career came on April 3, 2010. He was named the 2010 Indiana Mr. Basketball. This award goes to the best high school basketball player in Indiana. His jersey number 1 was retired by Bishop Luers High School, a first for the school.
College Basketball Career
Deshaun Thomas was a top-rated player when he finished high school. He had committed to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes when he was still a freshman in high school. He officially signed with them in November 2009.
Freshman Year (2010–2011)
In his very first college game, Thomas scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He helped the Buckeyes have a great season with 34 wins and only 3 losses. They won the Big Ten regular season championship and the Big Ten Post-season Tournament. They were also ranked as the number one team in the NCAA tournament.
Sophomore Year (2011–2012)
Thomas took on a bigger role in his second year. He started every game and played more minutes. In December 2011, he was named Big Ten Men's Basketball Player of the Week. He scored 23 and 30 points in two games that week. In March 2012, he had one of his best games, scoring 31 points and getting 12 rebounds in an NCAA Tournament win.
Junior Year (2012–2013)
In his junior year, Thomas led the Buckeyes to win the 2012 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tipoff championship. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP). On April 5, 2013, Thomas decided to leave Ohio State early to enter the 2013 NBA draft. He finished his college career as the 9th best scorer in Ohio State history.
Professional Basketball Career
JSF Nanterre (2013–2014)
The San Antonio Spurs picked Deshaun Thomas as the 58th player in the 2013 NBA draft. He played for the Spurs in the NBA Summer League. In August 2013, he signed with JSF Nanterre in France for one season. He averaged over 12 points per game for them.
FC Barcelona (2014–2015)
In July 2014, Thomas played for the Spurs again in the NBA Summer League. Then, in August 2014, he signed a one-year deal with FC Barcelona in Spain. He played 43 games and averaged 8.4 points.
Austin Spurs (2015–2016)
In September 2015, Thomas signed with the San Antonio Spurs again but was later released. He then joined the Austin Spurs in the NBA Development League (now called the G League).
Anadolu Efes (2016–2017)
In July 2016, Thomas signed a deal with the Turkish team Anadolu Efes. He played for them for one season before becoming a free agent in June 2017.
Maccabi Tel Aviv (2017–2018)
In July 2017, Thomas signed with the Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv. In October 2017, he scored a career-high 28 points in a game. He helped Maccabi win the Israeli League Cup and the Israeli League Championship in 2018.
Panathinaikos (2018–2020)
In July 2018, Thomas signed a one-year deal with the Greek team Panathinaikos. In February 2019, he helped Panathinaikos win the Greek Basketball Cup. He also helped them win the Greek Championship. He played for Panathinaikos for two seasons, leaving in June 2020.
Alvark Tokyo (2020–2021)
On August 1, 2020, Deshaun Thomas joined Alvark Tokyo, a basketball team in Japan.
Bayern Munich (2021–2022)
In August 2021, Thomas signed with Bayern Munich in Germany. He played 36 EuroLeague games for them.
Olimpia Milano (2022–2023)
On July 27, 2022, Thomas signed with the Italian team Olimpia Milano. He played 22 EuroLeague games before being released in July 2023.
Joventut Badalona (2023–2024)
In July 2023, Thomas signed with Joventut Badalona in Spain.
ASVEL Basket (2024)
On January 7, 2024, Thomas signed with the French team ASVEL Basket. This was his last team as a professional player.
