They raised money for Claptrap through a website called Indiegogo. They showed a preview of their parody of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. They called their version Star Worse: Plagiarizing Skywalker. The book also includes funny versions of older movies. These are movies that Mad magazine had not parodied before. Some of these films include The Big Lebowski, Blade Runner, and Die Hard. Claptrap was published in 2023.
