A Look Back: Detour's History

How Detour Got Its Name

Detour got its name because of the railroad! Back in 1905, a post office opened here. People say the train tracks had to take a long, winding "detour" to reach this spot. That's how the community got its unique name. The post office served the area for many years, closing in 1993.
