History of the Parade
This parade has been happening every year since 1958. The only times it didn't happen were in 2020 and 2021. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The United Irish Societies group organizes this big event. The very first parade was actually in Dearborn, Michigan.

Where Does the Parade Go?
Today, the parade starts at a place called UIS Irish Plaza. It then travels along Michigan Avenue. The route goes right through the historic Corktown neighborhood. Many people come to watch the parade. About 80,000 people attend each year.
