Devin George Edward Walker is an American scientist. He studies tiny particles and how the universe works. He is especially known for his important work on something called dark matter.

Learning About Physics

Devin Walker went to Hampton University for his first degree in physics. There, he learned a lot from his physics professor, Warren Buck.

Later, he went to Harvard University for his advanced studies. He worked with a professor named Nima Arkani-Hamed. Devin focused on studying dark matter for his main project. His big research paper was titled "Theories on the Origin of Mass and Dark Matter."

In 2005, Devin Walker made history. He was the first Black physicist born and educated in America to earn his highest degree from Harvard's Physics Department.

His Work as a Scientist

After Harvard, Devin Walker received a special award called the President's Postdoctoral Fellowship. This allowed him to do more research at the University of California at Berkeley. He worked on ways to find new physics using data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC is a huge machine that smashes tiny particles together.

He then continued his research at Stanford University. Later, he became a professor at the University of Washington.

Today, Devin Walker is a research professor at the Dartmouth Department of Physics and Astronomy. He continues to explore the mysteries of the universe.

Awards and Honors

Devin Walker has received several important awards for his work:

  • 2020 - Moore Prize from the American Physical Society
  • 2011 - Ford Foundation Fellowship
  • 2010 - LHC Theory Initiative Fellowship
