Dewon Day's Baseball Career
Dewon Day started his professional baseball journey with the Toronto Blue Jays. Later, in 2005, the Chicago White Sox picked him up. This happened through a special process called the Rule 5 draft.
Playing for the White Sox
Dewon played for the Chicago White Sox in 2007. He had two short periods with the team that year. In between, he spent some time on the disabled list. This means he was unable to play due to an injury.
He played in 13 games over two months. Sometimes, he found it tough to pitch well. His ERA (a stat that shows how many runs a pitcher allows) was 11.25. He also had more walks (when a pitcher throws four balls and the batter gets to go to first base) than strikeouts.
Moving to Other Teams
After the 2008 baseball season, the Red Sox team claimed Dewon. This means they took him from the White Sox. Later, the Tampa Bay Rays also claimed him.
Dewon was then released by the Rays. This means they let him go from their team. In 2009, he signed a contract with the Oakland Athletics. In 2010, he joined the Newark Bears. This team played in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which is a league outside of MLB.
College Baseball
Before playing professionally, Dewon Day went to Southern University. He played baseball there.
Life After Baseball
Today, Dewon lives in New Jersey. He works as a Sales Representative for Nike Golf.
