Dheran Young is an Australian politician. He is a member of the Labor Party. He currently represents the area of Daly. This area is in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Young won his seat in a special election in September 2021. He is a Yaegl man. Before politics, he helped manage the Wadeye Football League. He is now the 15th Speaker of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly. This means he leads the meetings of the Assembly.

Becoming an MLA
In 2021, there was a special election for the Daly area. This was because the previous member had left. Dheran Young was chosen to be the Labor Party's candidate.
Before running for election, Mr. Young worked as an adviser. He advised the Chief Minister, Michael Gunner. He also advised the Attorney-General, Selena Uibo.
During the election campaign, there was a reported disagreement. Mr. Young later apologized for his actions. He denied using any rude words.
Winning the Election
Dheran Young won the special election. This was a big achievement. He became the first government candidate to win a seat in a special election. Usually, the opposition party wins these seats.
