Early Life and School
Diala Makki was born on September 17, 1981, in Tehran. Her father was from Lebanon, and her mother was from Iran. She grew up in Tyre. When she was 16, she started modeling.
Diala went to the Lebanese American University. She studied media there, focusing on Radio, TV, and Film. Later, while studying for her master's degree, she began working as a TV presenter for Future Television.
Her Career in Television
At Future Television, Diala helped start a youth channel called Zen TV. On this channel, she hosted a weekly show about fashion.
In 2004, she joined Dubai TV. There, she and her team created Studio 24, a weekly entertainment show. During her time at Dubai TV, she reported from big film festivals. These included the Cannes, Venice, and Berlin film festivals.
From 2009 to 2011, Diala hosted Najm Al Khaleej. This show was like the Gulf region's version of American Idol. She also hosted Taratata, a very popular Arabic music talk show. Later, she appeared in two films: La Tahkom Ala Mowdao Min Khelal Al Sora (2013) and Rise (2014). Both films were directed by Ali F. Mostafa.
In 2015 and 2016, Diala Makki was named one of the 100 Most Powerful Arabs Under 40 by Arabian Business magazine.
Currently, Diala hosts Mashaheer on Dubai TV. This is a prime time show about fashion and lifestyle.
Helping Others
Diala Makki has used her social media to start a campaign against domestic violence. She actively helps people who are facing violence. She connects them with groups that can offer support in their countries.
She also worked with Marie Claire Arabia to raise money. They sold luxury shoes, and the money went to local groups in Dubai. Diala also attended a special event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. There, she helped raise awareness about violence against women.
