Diamond (tree) facts for kids
Diamond is a super tall and wide tree called a giant sequoia. It lives in Sequoia National Park in California. This amazing tree got its name because it has a big scar on its side that looks like a diamond!
Discovering Diamond
Three nature experts, Dennis Coggins, Wendell D. Flint, and Michael M. Law, found and named this tree. They saw the cool diamond shape on its trunk. Diamond is the biggest tree in its area, called Atwell Mill Grove. It's also one of the largest giant sequoias in the whole world! It's so big, it's usually counted as one of the top 20 biggest trees.
