Diarmuid Connolly (born 7 July 1987) is a famous Irish Gaelic football player. He played as a forward for the Dublin county team for many years. His career at the top level, including league and championship games, lasted from 2007 until 2020.
In July 2019, Diarmuid returned to play with the Dublin team for the 2019 Championship. He helped his team win their sixth All-Ireland title in September 2019. This was a huge achievement for him and the team.
In October 2020, Diarmuid Connolly announced that he was retiring from playing inter-county football.

Early Life and Sports Beginnings
Diarmuid Connolly was born in Dublin, Ireland. He grew up with a strong love for sports. His father was from Kilkenny and his mother from County Clare, and they passed on their passion for games.
He went to Ardscoil Rís for secondary school. There, he played competitive Gaelic football and hurling. Before that, he attended Scoil Mhuire Marino for primary school. Diarmuid also played soccer for clubs like Belvedere F.C. and Home Farm F.C..
Diarmuid Connolly's Football Career
Diarmuid Connolly first became known as a talented Gaelic footballer and hurler. He played at younger levels for St Vincent's club. He joined the club's senior team in 2004.
Club Successes
With St Vincent's, Diarmuid has won two All-Ireland Club Football medals. He also has four Leinster medals and four county championship medals. These are big wins for his club team.
Playing for Dublin County
Diarmuid started playing for the Dublin minor team in 2005. Later, he joined the Dublin under-21 teams. He was a dual player, meaning he played both Gaelic football and hurling. He even won a Leinster medal in hurling at the under-21 level.
He made his first appearance for the senior Dublin team in 2007. Over his career, he won an amazing six All-Ireland medals with Dublin. These wins happened in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. He also won ten Leinster medals and four National League medals. Diarmuid was recognized for his skills with two All Star awards in 2014 and 2016.
In March 2018, Diarmuid took a break from the Dublin senior football team. He spent the summer in Boston playing for a club called Donegal Boston. He even helped them win their championship. In July 2019, he returned to train with the Dublin team and helped them win another All-Ireland title.
