Richard L. Bresciani (born January 16, 1938 – died November 29, 2014) was an important person behind the scenes for the Boston Red Sox baseball team. He was born in Hopedale, Massachusetts. He joined the Red Sox in May 1972. He started as an assistant in public relations. This means he helped the team communicate with fans and the media.

Over the years, Dick Bresciani took on bigger roles. By 2003, he became the Vice President of Publications and Archives. This job meant he was in charge of all the Red Sox books, magazines, and historical records. He also looked after the team's former players, known as alumni.

His Work with the Red Sox

Dick Bresciani helped choose who would receive the annual Tony Conigliaro Award. This award goes to a Major League Baseball player who has overcome a challenge. He also helped select new members for the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. This Hall of Fame honors important players and staff from the team's history.

In 1999, he was a main organizer for the 1999 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. This big event brings together the best players from both leagues.

Awards and Honors

Dick Bresciani was honored many times for his work. He was on the board of directors for the BoSox Club, which is the official fan club for the Red Sox. Dick Bresciani went to Hopedale High School and the University of Massachusetts. He studied journalism there. In 1994, he received an award from the university for his professional achievements. He also received awards for supporting the Jimmy Fund, a charity that helps children with cancer.
