Dickinson is found in the eastern part of Wright County. It sits right along a curve of Minnesota State Highway 55. You can find it between the towns of Rockford and Buffalo.

How Dickinson Got Its Name

This town was named after a farmer called A.C. Dickinson. He owned the land where the town was built. It was common for towns to be named after important people or landowners nearby.

A Busy Railroad Stop

For a while, Dickinson was a stop on the Soo Line Railroad. Trains would pass through, and perhaps people would get on or off here. This made it an important spot for travel and trade back then.

What's Left Today?

By the end of the 1930s, everyone had left Dickinson. Today, you won't see many buildings. The state of Minnesota has put up a sign to show where the town once stood. You can still drive on the old dirt streets. Some people say that old building foundations are still there, but they are hard to see.
