Diego Occhiuzzi is a talented fencer from Italy. He was born on April 30, 1981, in Naples. Fencing is a sport where two people fight with special swords, but safely! Diego is especially good at using a type of sword called a sabre. He has won several medals at the Olympic Games, which are the biggest sports competition in the world.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Diego won a silver medal in the individual men's sabre event. He also helped his Italian team win a bronze medal in the team sabre competition at the same Olympics.

Diego Occhiuzzi has achieved many great things in his fencing career. He is known for being a strong competitor, especially in team events.

Olympic Medals

Diego has won three Olympic medals for Italy:

  • In 2008, at the Beijing Olympics, he won a bronze medal with the Italian men's sabre team.
  • In 2012, at the London Olympics, he won a silver medal in the individual men's sabre event. This was his best individual result!
  • Also in 2012, he won another bronze medal with the Italian men's sabre team.

World and European Championships

Besides the Olympics, Diego has also won many medals at other important fencing competitions:

  • World Championships: He won a gold medal in 2015 in Moscow with his team. He also earned a silver medal in 2010 and bronze medals in 2007 and 2011 with his team.
  • European Championships: Diego and his team won gold medals two years in a row, in 2013 in Zagreb and in 2014 in Strasbourg.

Diego Occhiuzzi's dedication and skill have made him one of Italy's most successful fencers.
