Dina Manfredini (born Guerri, 4 April 1897 – 17 December 2012) was an amazing Italian-American woman who lived to be very, very old! She was a supercentenarian, which means she lived to be 110 years old or more. When she passed away, she was the oldest person ever born in Europe whose age was officially confirmed. She was also the eighth oldest person in the world whose age was proven.

Her Early Life and Family
Dina Manfredini was born in a town called Pievepelago in Italy. In 1920, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa in the United States with her husband, Riccardo Manfredini. They had four children together, and three of them were still alive when Dina passed away.
Dina worked hard throughout her life. During World War II, she worked in a factory that made ammunition. After the war, she cleaned houses until she was 90 years old! Her husband, Riccardo, died in 1965 when he was 79 years old. Dina was 67 at that time.
After her husband's death, Dina lived by herself for many years. She moved into a nursing home when she was 110 years old. Besides her four children, Dina also had seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren. Imagine how many family members she had!
Becoming the Oldest Person
Dina Manfredini became the oldest living person in the world on December 4, 2012. This happened after another very old woman named Besse Cooper passed away. Dina held this special title for just 13 days.
She passed away peacefully on December 17, 2012, at the age of 115 years and 257 days. After Dina's death, a man from Japan named Jiroemon Kimura became the oldest living person in the world. He was only 15 days younger than Dina. In the United States, Gertrude Weaver became the oldest living person after Dina.
