Gertrude Weaver became famous for her long life. She was the oldest person living in the United States. This happened after another very old woman, Dina Manfredini, passed away in December 2012.

Then, for a short time, Gertrude Weaver was the oldest person in the entire world! She held this title from April 1 to April 6, 2015. She became the world's oldest after Misao Okawa from Japan passed away.

Her Final Days

Gertrude Weaver lived to be 116 years old. She passed away in April 2015. She was living at the Silver Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Camden, Arkansas.

She died from a sickness called pneumonia. At the time of her death, she was one of the oldest people ever recorded. She was also the third oldest person from the United States.
