Instead, it's managed by the larger Caddo Parish. Dixie is also part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area, connecting it to the nearby cities of Shreveport and Bossier City.

History of Dixie

Dixie was established around the 1890s. The community was founded by the Dickson family. They built a large home in the center of the area. This house was built in an antebellum style, which means it was designed before the American Civil War.

Famous People from Dixie

Over the years, several interesting people have lived in or had connections to Dixie.

Ansel M. Stroud, Jr.

Ansel M. Stroud, Jr. grew up in Dixie. He became a very important person in Louisiana. From 1980 to 1997, he served as the adjutant general of the Louisiana National Guard. This role means he was the top military officer for the state's National Guard. His father owned one of the two general stores in Dixie during the 1940s to 1960s.

The Robertson Brothers

Phil Robertson and Si Robertson, who became famous from the TV show Duck Dynasty, also lived in Dixie. They were residents of the community sometime during the 1950s and 1960s.

Vida Blue

There is a rumor that Vida Blue, a famous baseball player, played in Dixie when he was a child. He later became a Hall of Fame pitcher.
