Djakunda facts for kids
The Djakunda were an Indigenous Australian group. They lived in the state of Queensland, Australia.
Djakunda Country
Historians believe the Djakunda lived on about 2,600 square miles (6,700 square kilometers) of land. This land was their traditional country. It was located between the Boyne River and the Auburn River. Their land stretched north near Hawkwood. To the south, it reached the Great Dividing Range and areas near Kumbia. Their country also had many bunya pine trees. These trees provided an important food source for ceremonies.
Their Language
The Djakunda people spoke their own language. Some experts believe it was similar to the Mbabaram language.
