The Djalakuru were an Indigenous Australian group of people. They lived in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Who Were the Djalakuru People?

The Djalakuru were one of many different groups of Indigenous Australians. They had their own unique culture and traditions.

Where Did the Djalakuru Live?

Scientists know very little about the Djalakuru people. Because of this, their exact land area is hard to map.

A researcher named Norman Tindale studied different Indigenous groups. He believed the Djalakuru lived on about 600 square miles (1,550 square kilometers) of land.

Their country was along the coast. It stretched from west of Goulburn Island near Angularli Creek. It went all the way to Malay Bay, close to Mountnorris Bay.

What Do We Know About Them?

Most of what we know about the Djalakuru comes from one old report.

This report was written in 1846 by George Windsor Earl. It talked about the Cobourg Peninsula area.

The Djalakuru were also sometimes called Jalakuru.
