List of Doctor Who episodes (2005–present)

The sixth series of the exciting science fiction show Doctor Who aired in 2011. It was shown in two main parts. The first seven episodes were broadcast from April to June, and the last six episodes aired from August to October. This series kicked off with an episode called "The Impossible Astronaut" and wrapped up with "The Wedding of River Song". Before the main series, a special Christmas episode called "A Christmas Carol" was shown in late 2010. This was the sixth full season of Doctor Who since the show returned to TV in 2005, and the thirty-second season overall!

This series features Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor. The Doctor is a super-smart alien called a Time Lord who travels through all of time and space. He does this in his amazing blue police box, which is actually a time machine and spaceship called the TARDIS. The series also stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as the Doctor's best friends and travel buddies, Amy Pond and Rory Williams. They are a newly married couple who join the Doctor on his adventures. Alex Kingston also returns as River Song. She is a mysterious woman from the Doctor's future, and during this series, we learn a big secret about who she really is! This season continues some of the exciting stories that started in the fifth series.

Meet the Main Characters

The Doctor

The Doctor is an ancient alien from a planet called Gallifrey. He is a Time Lord, which means he can travel through time and space. He looks like a human, but he has two hearts and can regenerate when he is badly hurt. This means he changes his appearance and personality, but he is still the same person. In this series, he is the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith. He is clever, quirky, and always ready for an adventure.

Amy Pond and Rory Williams

Amy Pond and Rory Williams are the Doctor's loyal companions. They are a married couple who love to explore the universe with the Doctor. Amy is brave and adventurous, while Rory is kind and often a bit more cautious. They face many dangers together, always sticking by the Doctor's side.

River Song

River Song is a mysterious character who seems to know the Doctor very well, even though he often hasn't met her yet in his own timeline. She is smart, daring, and always carries a secret. In this series, her true connection to Amy and Rory is revealed, which is a huge surprise for everyone!

What Happens in Series 6?

This series is packed with exciting adventures and big mysteries. The Doctor, Amy, and Rory travel to many different places and times. They meet new friends and face scary monsters. A big part of the series is trying to understand who River Song really is and how she fits into the Doctor's life. The series also explores a mysterious group called the Silence, who are very hard to remember once you look away from them.
