Her Education Journey

Dr. Griffin earned her first degree in sociology from SUNY University at Buffalo. She also studied African American history. Then, she got her master's degree in School Psychology and Counseling Services from Howard University. For her PhD, she worked with school counselors in Barbados. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Pennsylvania University. She also studied Comparative and International Education.

Black Women PhDs

Dr. Griffin helped create BlackWomenPhDs. This business celebrates the achievements of Black women who have earned PhDs. It also provides helpful tools for students who want to become doctors.

Helping with Policy

In 2021, Dr. Griffin was chosen for a special fellowship. It was with the AERA. She also became an AERA Ambassador in Washington, D.C.. This means she helps share ideas about education with lawmakers.

She has also written for important books. These include Antiracist Counseling in Schools and Communities. She also wrote for The Wiley Handbook of Family, School, and Community Relationships in Education. Dr. Griffin has also worked to bring more different kinds of teachers to Penn State.

She has been on two podcasts. One was called Nerdacity, where she talked about why women should keep the "Dr." title. The other was Cohort Sistas. On this podcast, she discussed how schools, families, and communities can work together.
