Don Marion Davis (born October 9, 1917 – died December 10, 2020) was a famous American child actor. He was also known as John Henry Jr. and Don Marion. He starred in many silent films and comedy shorts in Hollywood from 1919 to 1925. Silent films are movies without spoken dialogue. Don Marion was one of the last actors from that early movie era to still be alive. He also did some radio work.

His Early Acting Career
Don Marion Davis was born in Hollywood, California, on October 9, 1917. His parents were Henry G. Davis and Helen Davis. He was discovered by a famous movie director named Mack Sennett around 1919. This happened when Don and his mom were visiting his uncle, Billy Armstrong, who was also an actor.
Don was on a film set when the baby who was supposed to act wasn't doing well. Don stepped in and did a great job! Soon, he became a very popular child actor. In 1920, a newspaper even called him one of the most famous child actors in the world.
He starred in full-length movies like Down on the Farm (1920) and A Small Town Idol (1921). Don often acted alongside a dog named Teddy. Teddy was one of the most well-known animal actors of that time. As Don grew bigger, the movies had to change their plans to fit his height!
Life After Acting
Don Marion left acting in 1925. He later went to the University of Oregon. In 1940, he joined the U.S. Army before the United States entered World War II. He served as an officer in Europe during the war.
After the war, Don stayed in the military. He worked in different countries, including South Africa and South Korea. He also earned a degree in Public Administration from the University of Arizona.
He lived in Tucson, Arizona. Even at 99 years old, he enjoyed riding his bike for 40 minutes every day!
Don Marion Davis passed away on December 10, 2020, at the age of 103. He died from a short illness in Tucson, Arizona.
