Donald Evans achieved something very special at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. This is a huge festival that celebrates Welsh culture, especially music and poetry. He won both the "crown" and the "chair" awards not just once, but twice! He won in 1977 and again in 1980. Only two other poets have ever managed this incredible "double double" win.

Later Achievements and Studies
In 2006, Donald Evans earned a special degree called a PhD from the University of Wales, Lampeter. He received it for his deep study of traditional Welsh poetry. He looked at how poets used strict metre in their work for the Eisteddfod between 1955 and 1999.
