Donald Jones's Amazing Life
Donald Jones was born in Harlem, New York. He first studied to become a designer for advertisements. In 1954, he moved to the Netherlands with a dance group.
He soon joined a cabaret company. This was a type of entertainment show with singing, dancing, and acting. Donald started his career there as a singer, actor, and dancer.
He was chosen for the first-ever Dutch television show! This was a popular TV hit in the 1950s called Pension HommelesAnnie M. G. Schmidt. Donald played a character named Dinky Henderson. Dinky sang a song called "Ik zou je het liefste in een doosje willen doen". This song became a big hit in the Netherlands. It is now a classic in musical comedy. Because of this, Donald Jones became the first black star in the Netherlands!
