Starting as an Amateur Boxer
Donnell Holmes had a strong start in boxing. As an amateur, he won 73 fights. He only lost 13 times. A big part of his wins, 64 of them, came from knockouts (KOs).
Turning Professional
Holmes became a professional boxer in January 2003. His very first professional fight was in Wilmington, North Carolina. He won this fight against another American boxer, Johan Carrington.
